No need to re-open EFSA opinion on titanium dioxide

EFSA published in July its assessment of four recent scientific studies on Titanium Dioxide. This is based on a  request from the European Commission on 22 March 2018 to assess four studies (Heringa et al., 2016; Bettini et al., 2017; Guo et al., 2017; Proquin et al., 2017), published after the EFSA scientific opinion in 2016, on the potential toxicity of TiO2 used as a food additive (E 171).

The EFSA Panel concluded that the outcome of the four studies did not merit reā€opening the existing 2016 opinion related to the safety of TiO2 (E 171) as a food additive.
