On February 4, 2024, Burkina Faso's Constitutional Court in Ouagadougou reviewed the constitutionality of the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants. The Convention, adopted on May 22, 2001, aligns with Burkina Faso's commitment to the Rio Declaration's objective of protecting human health and the environment. The Constitutional Court found that the Convention, aimed at ensuring environmental and human health protection, does not conflict with Burkina Faso's constitution.
