The SCIENTIFIC PANEL ON Food Additives and Flavorings 40th Working Group meeting on Specifications of Food Additives includes the following scientific topic(s) for discussion:

a. Re-evaluation of maltitol (965(i)) and maltitol syrup (965(ii) (EFSA-Q-2017-00490; EFSA-Q-2011-00755)

The Working Group discussed the technical part of the draft opinion. Further clarifications and improvements based on the comments provided by the participants were noted. Subject to these revisions a new document will be presented for discussion at a forthcoming Working Group meeting.

b. Follow up on the re-evaluation of Indigo carmine (E 132) as a food additive (EFSAQ-2021-00180)
