University of California moves to eliminate single-use plastics
The University of California announced Monday that they are phasing out single-use plastics on all their campuses. The phase out is expected to be completed in 2030, bringing the university system closer to meeting its overall sustainability and zero waste goals. Prior to the announcement, CALPIRG student chapters’ Plastic-Free Seas Campaign had collected more than 12,000 student signatures in support of eliminating single-use plastics, which have disastrous effects on oceans and their wildlife.”
