SCCS - Minutes of the Working Group Meeting on Cosmetic Ingredients of 15-16 July 2021

The Minutes of the Working Group Meeting on Cosmetic Ingredients includes the following items:

New mandates or information from DG GROW

(*) Commission Regulation (EU) 2021/1099 of 5 July 2021 amending Annexes II and III (cf. deoxyarbutin + hair dyes) to Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council on cosmetic products was published

Draft Opinions discussed

(*) Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT): the draft preliminary Opinion has been presented and will be further discussed at the next September WG meeting.

(*) Kojic acid: the draft preliminary Opinion has been presented and will be further discussed at the next September WG meeting.

(*) Prostaglandin and analogues: the draft preliminary Opinion has been presented and additional tasks were distributed among members. It will be further discussed at the next September WG meeting. 

(*) Genistein: a state of play was provided and tasks were distributed among members. It will be further discussed at the next September WG meeting.

(*) Daidzein: a state of play was provided and tasks were distributed among members. It will be further discussed at the next September WG meeting.

(*) Revision of the Vitamin A Opinion: the status of the dossier was presented. A draft revision of the SCCS Opinion is planned to be presented and discussed at the next September WG meeting.

(*) Aluminium (aggregate exposure): the status of the dossier was presented. A draft preliminary Opinion is planned to be presented and discussed at the next September WG meeting.

(*) 4-Methylbenzylidene camphor (4-MBC): a state of play was provided and tasks were distributed among members. It will be further discussed at the next September WG meeting.

(*) Scientific Advice (SA) on Triclocarban and Triclosan: this file has been postponed until September WG meeting.

(*) Arbutins: this file has been postponed until September WG meeting.

Comments on Opinions

(*) Opinion on hair dye C054 was finalised together with SCCS answers to comment. They will be adopted by written procedure after the meeting.

(*) Preliminary Opinion on fragrance Methylsalicylate has been published and is open for comments until 8 September 2021

Information from Chairman/Members/Commission

(*) 3rd Forum on Endocrine Disruptors is planned on 21-22 September 2021.

(*) SCCS Opinion on Propylparaben SCCS/1623/20 has been accepted for publication in scientific Journal ‘Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology’.
