Highlights - Public Hearing on the Farm to Fork Strategy - Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety

The ENVI and AGRI Committees are co-organising a public hearing on 4 February from 09.00 to 12.00, about the Farm to Fork Strategy.

Academics and representatives of professional organisations and civil society will discuss with Members and the European Commission about the role that the Strategy is to play, its outlook, the challenges it has to tackle but also its links to and possible integration with other policies. The Farm to Fork Strategy is a key tool developed by the Commission in the framework of the European Green Deal and an opportunity to improve lifestyles, health and the environment, while at the same time integrating the CAP to form a comprehensive food policy. Its key goals are to reduce the environmental and climate footprint of the EU food system in all stages (from agricultural production to the consumers), ensure food security in the face of climate change and biodiversity loss, whilst furthering the reduction of chemical pesticides, fertilisers and antibiotics and boosting organic farming and aquaculture.
