The European Commission has published Regulation (EU) 2023/1442 amending Annex I to Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The amendment, which includes delisting certain substances, replacing and adding new entries, and adjusting specific migration limits for certain substances, will come into force on August 1, 2023. Food contact plastics complying with the Food Contact Plastics Regulation before this date and placed on the market before February 1, 2025, can remain on the market until stocks are exhausted. However, there are defined conditions for the first-time placement on the market after February 1, 2025, for food contact plastics manufactured with specific substances.
