ECHA Biocidal Products Committee adopts 14 opinions on 12 active substances

The Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) supported the approval of four active substances for use in insecticides, preservatives, slimicides and for veterinary hygiene. It also adopted opinions supporting to renew the approval of eight active substances for use in rodenticide products. The approval opinions are on the following active substances:

  • Peracetic acid for product-type 11 (i.e. preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems) and 12 (i.e. slimicides)
  • Cyanamide Cyanamide for product-type 3 (i.e. veterinary hygiene) and 18 (i.e. insecticides, acaricides and products to control other arthropods)
  • Piperonylbutoxide (PBO) for product-type 18 
  • Epsilon-momfluorothrin for product-type 18

For the first time, the BPC also adopted opinions on the renewal of an approval for an active substance. The substances are: chlorophacinone , coumatetralyl , warfarin , Bromadiolone , Difenacoum , Brodifacoum , Difetialone, Flocoumafen . These substances are used in anticoagulants rodenticide products (product type 14).

The committee met for the 16th time from 14 to 16 June 2016.
