The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency received more than 440 reports of chemical spills and releases between January 2012 and mid-May 2017. Some reports were about minor spills. Some were false alarms.
But at least a few calls were dangerous, involving large amounts of chemicals seeping into the ground in sensitive areas that feed into the aquifer. More than 3 million people rely on the aquifer for clean water. A Dayton Daily New investigation on Sunday will look at the dangers that could have an affect on the region’s water supply.
