Denmark | Hidden formaldehyde in cosmetics can cause allergies

Your substances

This news contains references also to other Substances

A study of 150 cosmetic products shows that one in nine products contain worrying levels of the chemical formaldehyde, without it appearing on the label. In all cases there is a risk of allergy.

The investigation indicates that the formaldehyde may have been transferred through the raw materials included in the products. This means that the substance is not deliberately added, but is present as an impurity in the raw material, and then there is no requirement that it be on the label. However, the product must still be safe for the consumer.
