South Korea's Food and Drug Safety Agency has announced proposed amendments to cosmetic safety standards, outlined in the 제2023-572호 notice. The revisions, scheduled to take effect immediately upon announcement, are driven by the desire to enhance cosmetic safety management and safeguard public health. A key amendment involves the addition of 1,2,4-trihydroxybenzene to the list of prohibited cosmetic ingredients, reinforcing safety measures for cosmetic products. The public is invited to submit feedback on the proposed changes until December 11, 2023, with details provided for submission via postal mail, email, or phone. The revised standards will apply to cosmetics manufactured or imported after the effective date, while existing products under previous regulations may be sold or displayed until October 1, 2024.
