KEMI | Supervision 1/21: Consumer Electronics

The Swedish Chemicals Agency's department of enforcement inspects companies that manufacture, import and sell chemical products and articles that contain or have been treated with chemical substances. As part of the control, we perform chemical analyses of products to verify that the products meet the requirements of the legislation. This report is a compilation of three sub-projects and the analyses carried out by the enforcement department focusing on electrical products in 2020.

In total, we controlled 263 products in the project. We found 33 products with prohibited substances at levels above legislations threshold limits, which corresponds to 13 percent. The prohibited substances found were mainly lead in solders and phthalates and short chain chlorinated paraffin’s in plastic.
