Chemical Substances and Hazardous Goods
Israel is a member of the Rotterdam Convention on the Prior Informed Consent Procedure for Certain Hazardous Chemicals and Pesticides in International Trade, commonly known as the Rotterdam Convention. This Convention undertakes to ensure that exports of designated chemical substances may only take place with the consent of the importing party. By means of the prior informed consent (PIC) procedure, information is gathered and disseminated as to whether an importing party wishes to receive future shipments of a certain chemical and to ensure the compliance with that decision by the exporting party.
Chemicals used in Fertilisers
Depending on the type of fertiliser to be imported, i.e. if of animal or plant origin, the provisions detailed in the chapters on Live Animals and Products of Animal Origin and Plants, Plant Products and Agricultural Machines above usually apply to agricultural fertilisers as well. In general, a Permit to Import Plants and Plant Products must be obtained for most fertilisers. Fertilisers of animal origin and nitrogenous mineral or chemical fertilisers require an additional General Import Licence.
