United Arab Emirates Amendments as regards labelling requirements

Alcohol is not permitted in any foodstuff. Meat and meat products must bear the indication that they have been manufactured according to the Islamic rules. See the document Halal Certificate for details. The certification may alternatively be provided in the form of a GSO-approved seal referred to as halal labelling. For reasons of acceptability of other foodstuffs and various types of products coming into contact with the human body (e.g. toothpaste and other cosmetic products as well as pharmaceuticals), a corresponding certificate or halal label is also highly recommendable for other products.
