Turkey adopts WEEE and RoHS law

Following a general trend across the globe, Turkey is the latest country to adopt both EU WEEE and RoHS-style Directives as part of their environmental legislation.

The new law “Atık Elektrikli ve Elektronik Eşyaların (AEEE) Kontrolü Yönetmeliği” was published in the Turkish Official Journal on 22nd May 2012, entering force at the same time. Additional terms surrounding producer responsibility will enter force in May 2013. 

Whilst very similar to the EU Directives, the Turkish law does keep some differences.

The definition of EEE is the same in that it is any goods which require a current or electromagnetic fields to function correctly.
