European Parliament's ENVI Committee Backs Revision of the CLP Regulation

The European Parliament's ENVI committee has endorsed a proposed revision of the legislation on the classification, labeling, and packaging of chemical substances (CLP). This revision aims to enhance the protection of workers and citizens by improving hazard identification, labeling, and packaging of chemicals used in various applications. The Health and Environment Alliance (HEAL) has expressed support for this decision, with a strong majority in favor of the draft report. The revised CLP legislation includes provisions for addressing new hazard classes, modernizing rules for chemical sales, and streamlining CLP processes for efficiency and transparency. The next step is a plenary vote in the European Parliament, scheduled for early October, followed by negotiations with the Commission and the Council.
