China has announced amendments to the "Regulations on the Management of Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer." The decision, marked as Order No. 770 by the State Council, was made during the 21st executive meeting on December 18, 2023, and is set to take effect on March 1, 2024. Prime Minister Li Qiang signed the order on December 29, 2023. The amendments include a refined definition of ozone-depleting substances, stricter supervision and management responsibilities, a ban on the use of phased-out substances, and enhanced penalties for non-compliance. The comprehensive changes aim to strengthen China's commitment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer and align with global efforts to address environmental challenges.
