Estefania Boix has published the review: "Interactions Between Metal Oxides and Biomolecules: From Fundamental Understanding to Applications" for the American Chemical Society. For three years, Estefania and her colleagues at Nottingham Trent University gathered and critically compared the latest discoveries on metal and metalloid oxides interactions with biomolecules. Biomolecules (peptides, proteins, etc.) and biopolymers (silk, cellulose, etc.) are used to tune the particle growth of the minerals and in consequence, determining their properties and applications, mostly in nanoscience, optics and medicine. Estefania worked on the  germanium dioxide  (GeO2) and silicon dioxide (SiO2) sections. To read the full study, click here
