Nine out of ten online shops break the law on hazard labeling

When consumers buy products such as hand sanitizer, hydrochloric acid or washing up liquid online, they must be more than usually lucky to get correct information about the danger of the products at the same time.

This is shown by a screening that the Danish Environmental Protection Agency has carried out of product pages in 304 Danish online shops. The online stores in the screening sell at least one of the three products. Only 22 of the screened online stores, corresponding to 7 percent, comply with the CLP regulation's article 48, which has been in force throughout the EU since 2008. In other words, it suggests that as many as 93 percent of the online stores in the screening break the law's requirements for correct hazard labeling.
