Switzerland has announced modifications to Annexes 2 and 3 of the Chemicals Ordinance (ChemO), focusing on the protection against dangerous substances and preparations.

The changes include the addition of 28 new substances or groups to the list of harmonized classifications and labeling, along with modifications to 24 existing entries, aligning with the 21st ATP of the EU-CLP regulation.

Additionally, new EU hazard classes for endocrine disruptors, persistent chemicals, and bioaccumulative substances as per EU regulation 2023/707 will be adopted in Switzerland, becoming mandatory in stages. The latest OECD and UN test methods are also incorporated into Swiss legislation. Furthermore, seven new entries are added to Appendix 3 ChemO, with one existing entry being updated.

These modifications aim to harmonize regulations, protect human health and the environment, and reduce trade barriers. The notification reference is G/TBT/N/CHE/287.
