This court case concerns the substance evaluation of resorcinol and its potential endocrine disrupting properties for the environment. The Appellant, the lead registrant for resorcinol, registered the substance as an only representative on behalf of non-EU manufacturers. In 2012, resorcinol was included in the Community rolling action plan (CoRAP) for substance evaluation and the Competent Authority of Finland (TUKES) was appointed as the evaluating Member State Competent Authority. In 2017, TUKES concluded that while the available data was not conclusive, resorcinol was likely an endocrine disruptor substance for the thyroid. However, TUKES stated that the population level adversity in the environment had not been studied and could not be proven by using the study methods available in the test guidelines (TG) of the OECD.

The court rejected all the pleas made by the appellant and dismissed the appeal. As a result of the court's decision, the Appellant is required to submit information on a Larval Amphibian Growth and Development Assay (LAGDA) by 24 July 2024.
