EU non-ferrous metals industry regrets US import measures on aluminium

The European non-ferrous metals association (Eurometaux) fully supports the European aluminium industry’s call for the European Commission and EU Member States to protect their interests following US President Trump’s announcement of a 10% tariff to be imposed on all aluminium imports.

Guy Thiran, Eurometaux’s Director General, stated: “We echo the European aluminium industry’s regret regarding President Trump’s decision to impose a blanket tariff on all aluminium imports. This risks a disruption of the EU-US trading relationship, and will likely lead to a redirection of aluminium products from third countries to Europe. The European Commission and Member States must act now to protect the aluminium industry’s interests, in line with international trade rules."
