On 27 and 28 November a very successful Roadmap-conference was held in Helsinki by the Finnish EU-Presidency. It was all about sharing knowledge and good practices on preventing and reducing exposure to carcinogens at work. An important pit stop to discuss what has been achieved and what still needs to be done.

During the final part of the conference a new covenant has been signed. The partners, now with Finland and Germany on board, agreed to stay active at least until the end of 2020. Read the covenant (PDF) to see what the partners have committed to. Finland is now passing the baton to Germany, which will continue to lead the Roadmap on Carcinogens. We are both proud and thankful to Finland for the commitment they have been showing to tackling work-related cancer. And happy of course that Germany will continue this important task.

During the conference the European Commission gave an update on the ongoing development of occupational exposure limit values. Three additional (groups of) substances will be added in the fourth CMD amendment: acrylonitrile, benzene and nickel compounds.
