The pandemic has increased e-commerce and thus the use of all types of cartons, plastic packaging and other packaging. The Nordic Council's Sustainability Committee wants to see an overall Nordic strategy for recycling and hopes for more Nordic Ecolabelled packaging.
More packaging than ever has been left for recycling during the pandemic, but the opportunity for consumers to choose environmentally smart packaging must be even better, the Sustainability Committee believes.
At its meeting on Monday, the committee decided to request a political dialogue with the Council of Ministers on a Nordic common strategy for recycling. The committee also wants to work for more Nordic Ecolabelled packaging.
