The Soil Center of the Croatian Agency for Agriculture and Food (HAPIH) received a request from the Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia to go to the field of experts and take soil samples at places where soil liquefaction has occurred. Employees of the HAPIH Soil Center took soil samples and sand and sludge ejected by water at the sites of soil cracking. The results of the analyzes performed in the Reference Laboratory of the Soil Center showed that the values of the concentrations of the tested heavy metals (As, Cd, Cr, Co, Cu, Hg, Ni, Mo, Pb and Zn) are not significant and agricultural production can proceed smoothly. The values of concentrations of all 10 heavy metals in the soil are below the maximum permissible concentrations of heavy metals (MKD) in the soil according to the Ordinance on the protection of agricultural land from pollution (OG 71/19).
