Finland has unveiled a decision draft aimed at restricting the marketing of products containing nicotine, as per section 45b, subsections 1 and 3 of the Chemicals Act (599/2013). The proposed decision comes amidst a dynamic landscape of regulatory changes concerning nicotine-based products within the European Union.

The draft decision, once enacted, would effectively prohibit the distribution and sale of nicotine pouches containing 20 mg of nicotine per pouch or higher. This decision stems from a reevaluation of the legislation on medicines, which has prompted a revision in the regulation of nicotine pouches. While a comprehensive legislative adjustment focusing on nicotine pouches is underway, the timeline for its implementation remains uncertain.
