Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), a widely used plastic, is raising concerns due to its association with toxic and carcinogenic chemicals, posing risks to both people and the environment. Present in products ranging from raincoats to construction materials, PVC's lifecycle involves the use of harmful chemicals, contributing to pollution challenges like PFAS and microplastics.

This call urges the European Union to ban PVC, emphasizing its detrimental impact on health, the environment, and global pollution. Over 60 NGOs and individuals are urging EU policymakers to implement a comprehensive phase-out plan for PVC by 2030, including restrictions under the EU REACH Chemicals Regulation and support for a global ban through the new Global Plastics Treaty.
