The European Commission has launched a new initiative for Ecodesign for Sustainable Products. The initiative aims to ensure that products sold in the EU are subject to performance and information-related requirements, to make them more sustainable. The Commission is looking to gather views and opinions on the categories of new products and measures to be addressed first, to set priorities that are transparent and inclusive.
The Commission is currently in the process of collecting feedback on its proposal during the feedback period, which started on January 31, 2023 and will end on April 25, 2023 (midnight Brussels time). The Commission plans to adopt the proposal in the first quarter of 2024.
Individuals and organizations interested in providing feedback on the Commission's proposal can do so during the feedback period. The initiative is aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and the Commission is keen to ensure that it sets priorities for new products that are in line with the expectations of the stakeholders.
