ECHA Board of Appeal rejects Michelin's appeal on the evaluation of DCBS used in tyres

On 10 November 2015, the French tyre manufacturer Michelin lodged at appeal at the Registry of the Board of Appeal against the Contested Decision on a substance evaluation of the substance DCBS adopted by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA). In particular, ECHA requested the submission by the 7th of March of an updated  chemical safety report (CSR) containing further information on environmental exposure assessment, namely: (a) Assumptions underlying the environmental exposure estimation; (b) Environmental exposure assessment for the sediment compartment from manufacturing the Substance; (c) Environmental exposure assessment for the production and use of tyres and general rubber products; (d) Environmental releases from the use of tyres. The ECHA board of Appeal considered that the appeal is inadmissible.
