This draft Commission Delegated Regulation concerns authorisation of the addition of calcium L-methylfolate, as a source of folate to infant and follow-on formula, processed cereal-based food and baby food in the future in line with the European Food Safety Authority's (EFSA) relevant scientific opinion.

Objective
The proposed measure aims at allowing the addition of calcium L-methylfolate, as a source of folate to infant and follow-on formula, processed cereal-based food and baby food. The draft measure reflects the favourable outcome of the safety assessment by EFSA. In order to allow the addition of calcium L-methylfolate, as a source of folate to infant and follow-on formula, processed cereal-based food and baby food it is necessary to amend the Annex to Regulation (EU) No 609/2013 on food intended for infants and young children, food for special medical purposes and total diet replacement for weight control.
