EU Adds 24 Substances to REACH Restriction List, Including Carcinogenic and Mutagenic Compounds
The EU introduced 24 substances to the REACH Restriction List, which can be found in Appendices 2 and 6 of Annex XVII. This regulatory update was made public through the publication of Regulation 2023/1132,
aimed at modifying Annex XVII of REACH.
Under the 18th Adaptation to Technical Progress (ATP) of the CLP Regulation, all of these newly listed substances have been classified as category 1A or 1B, indicating their carcinogenic, mutagenic, or toxic effects on reproduction.
The implementation of these restrictions is set to commence on December 1, 2023. Among the substances added to the list are 2-ethylhexanoic acid
and its salts, Ammonium bromide
, and Theophylline
