The Secretariat of Commerce in Argentina has notified the World Trade Organization (WTO) of its decision to suspend the deadline for compliance with the requirement that cement be packaged in 25 kg bags. The suspension will last for a period of 60 business days.

The requirement was originally established in Resolution No. 54 of October 2, 2018, which also sets out other technical quality and safety requirements for products identified as construction cements. The suspension of the deadline for compliance with the packaging requirement is intended to give producers more time to adapt to the new requirement.

The Secretariat of Commerce has stated that the suspension is necessary to ensure the availability of cement in the domestic market. The agency has also stated that it will continue to monitor the situation and may review the suspension if necessary.

The suspension of the deadline for compliance with the cement packaging requirement is a positive development for producers and consumers alike. It will give producers more time to adapt to the new requirement and ensure that there is no disruption to the supply of cement in the domestic market.
