5.1. Update of EFSA guidance on the data required for the risk assessment of flavourings (EFSA-Q-2021-00289)

The Working Group discussed the Terms of Reference (ToR) of the mandate received from the Commission requesting to update the Guidance on the data required for the risk assessment of applications on flavourings to be used in or on foods submitted under Regulation (EC) No 1331/2008.

The Working Group examined the content of the current EFSA documents applicable to the risk assessment of flavourings (i.e. EFSA, 20105 ; EFSA, 20126 ) and started identifying those areas that need revision in the light of the experience gained with the assessment of currently authorised flavourings and taking into account the latest relevant cross-sectional documents that have been developed by EFSA since the adoption of the above mentioned guidance on the risk assessment of flavourings.

Tasks were allocated among Working Group members with the view to prepare a first draft of the document to be discussed at a next WG meeting.
