The Government of Canada has published a notice in the Canada Gazette, Part I, on July 27, 2024, seeking information on 312 per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) listed in Schedule 1 of the notice. The deadline for responding to the notice is January 29, 2025.
The purpose of the notice is to collect data on the commercial use of PFAS substances in Canada for the calendar year 2023. This information will be used to establish a baseline for future activities related to the class of PFAS.
The list of substances included in the notice is not exhaustive, but rather focuses on those substances that are known or anticipated to be in Canadian commerce and have not been recently surveyed.
The information gathering initiative is part of the Government of Canada's Chemicals Management Plan, which aims to manage chemical substances in a responsible and sustainable manner. For more information on the plan, visit the Government of Canada's website.
It's important to note that this document is for guidance only, and in the event of a discrepancy between this document and the official notice or the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999, the official version takes precedence.
