On 15 June, the ENVI Members will exchange views with the Commission on the proposal for a regulation on sustainable batteries.
In December 2020, the Commission presented a proposal for a regulation concerning batteries and waste batteries, repealing the existing Directive 2006/66/EC. This Regulation aims to ensure that batteries placed in the EU market are sustainable and safe throughout their life cycle. In Parliament, the appointed rapporteur from the ENVI committee is Ms Simona Bonafè (S&D).
