EEB | Rethink Plastic alliance: feedback on the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation proposal

On 30 November 2022 the European Commission put forward its proposal for a revision of the EU legislation on Packaging and Packaging Waste. This proposal intends to tackle the packaging waste crisis by making all packaging reusable or recyclable by 2030 and preventing excessive and unnecessary packaging.

Together with the Rethink Plastic alliance, the EEB outlines recommendations to support the revision of the EU packaging rules. We also highlight the need for ambitious binding legislation to stop the continuous growth of packaging waste and drive the circular transition of the packaging sector for the benefit of people and the environment.
