Dangerous chemicals leaked from a factory today forcing authorities to warn residents to stay inside and turn off their air conditioners.

The gas leaked from a Parmalat factory in North Bendigo, north of Melbourne.

Seven fire engines rushed to the dairy plant as residents were told to stay away from the 'very dangerous' area.
