ASEAN-Japan Chemical Safety Database Officially Launched

The Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has co-developed “ASEAN-Japan Chemical Safety Database (AJCSD)” with ASEAN countries under the framework of the AEM-METI Economic and Industrial Cooperation Committee (AMEICC).

The National Institute of Technology and Evolution (NITE) started the full operation of AJCSD on April 28, 2016. The database contains chemical regulatory information of member counties and more information such as GHS classification results and samples of Safety Data Sheets (SDS), all of which are available free of charge. 

The database is expected to enhance transparency on current regulations, contribute to reducing compliance risks in chemical industries and harmonize regulatory systems among the countries involved for the future.
