First Revision of Ecuadorian Technical Regulation PRTE 237 (1R) on Asphalt Cements, Diluted Asphalts, and Asphalt Emulsions

Ecuador has proposed the first revision of its Technical Regulation PRTE 237 (1R), which applies to both domestic and imported products marketed in the country. The regulation covers:

• Viscosity-graded asphalt cements for pavement construction.
• Penetration-graded asphalt cements for pavement construction.
• Performance-graded asphalt cements for pavement construction.
• Diluted asphalts for pavement construction and treatment.
• Asphalt emulsions for pavement construction.

The aim is to ensure consumer information and labeling, prevent deceptive practices, protect human health and safety, and safeguard the environment. This notification is identified as G/TBT/N/ECU/532.
